Bad carb mounting gaskets can allow it to suck air by the bad gaskets and not through the carb and it might not run if they are bad enough. Sounds like you have a fuel delivery problem. You definitely have spark. Gas can also clog up the injectors and cause problems. Try the fresh gas and a new fuel filter. Should fire right up. Thanks for the info and ideas....

(Also use carb cleaner instead of starting fluid, it works fine and is easier on the engine). Is the float bowl on the carb filling. The float valve could be stuck. Are you sure the jets are clear.
